Primary Job Summary:
The Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who practices within the scope of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, individualized nursing care, based upon knowledge and experience, the nursing process and leadership skills. The RN incorporates the carative factors of human care and performs established procedures in accordance with the organizations and the nursing division policies, procedures in accordance with the organizations and the nursing division policies, procedures, and standards of care. The RN coordinates family involvement in the assessment/treatment and continuing care of the patient, and delegate’s tasks to competent and appropriate caregivers. Adheres to the mission, values, and philosophy of WSMC.
Primary Job Requirements:
· BSN Degree from an accredited nursing program
· RN license in state of Illinois
· Preference for 2+ years of specialty experience
· BLS/ACLS certification is required
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assesses each patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environment, spiritual, cultural, self-care, educational and discharge planning based on age and development status.
Utilizes the caring behaviors of empathy, active listening and cultural sensitivity and supports patient dignity.
Develops and prioritizes an outcome directed plan of care to assigned patients and changes as necessary.
Performs clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards of practice and within scope of the State Nurse Practice
Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions. Modified the plan of care focusing on age and development status and patient outcomes
Reviews the plan of care and consults with the physician and other health care providers to adjust the plan to assure optimum patient outcomes within the scheduled timeframe
Documents care per documentation standards
Provides patient/family education Serves as a mentor/preceptor for colleagues and other staff within or outside of areas of responsibility
Other Responsibilities:
Adheres to downtime procedures.
Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by WSMC.
Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of WSMC through behavior and attitude.
Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Monitor and delegate tasks to allied health care professionals.
