JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services working under direct supervision transports patients to and from the operating room and assists with supply coordination and the filing of patient changes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Once hired, one (1) to two (2) weeks of on the job training is required to become familiar with the hospital environment.
- Current CPR certification required at time of hire or within three (3) months.
- The ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- An understanding of procedures necessary to obtain the proper equipment and supplies.
- The ability to deal courteously with patients and departmental personnel hospital wide.
JOB DUTIES
- Transports patients to and from the operating room.
- Stocks warming closets with bath blankets.
- Maintains the supplies of hats, masks and shoe covers in the nurses’ locker room, near the desk area and in the holding room.
- Runs errands to the laboratory, pharmacy and other hospital areas as directed.
- Delivers mail to and from the mail room.
- Assists the holding room nurse with formation of chart pockets.
- Photocopies daily surgical schedule and other departmental requirements and delivers to appropriate areas.
- Evaluates environmental safety and provides environment that is safe based on the age and developmental status of the patient.
- Conforms to the established Standards of Behavior
