JOB SUMMARY
Works to maintain a safe and secure environment for the entire facility. Duties may include patrolling the entire facility and garage structure, reporting inconsistencies and discoveries during patrol and providing general security services throughout the facility. Assists patients visitors, and staff whenever needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
- Preferably one-year experience in a security-related field preferably in a health care environment.
- IAHSS Basic Certification or 20-hour or more Security Training Certificate preferred.
- Ability to remain calm, take command, provide guidance, make sound independent decisions, and resolve conflicts during security incidents and emergency situation, until policy arrive.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License required.
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrates the WSMC Customer Service Vales, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers.
- Patrols the entire facility on foot and inspect hallways, stairways, parking areas, and other public areas for suspicious activities, faire/safety hazards, criminal activity, service request, and cleanliness.
- Ensures compliance with post assignments.
- Provides restraints, and/or protection of patients in an age appropriate manner as needed at the direction of the medical staff.
- Reports all significant security incidents to the supervising Security Officer.
- Provides escort service to employees, patients, and visitors upon authorization.
- Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations.
- Handles confidential reports, information, cash, and other valuables.
- Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities.
- Receives, stores and returns lost and found items.
- Enforces identification policies, and package pass polices.
- Maintains a working knowledge of city, state, and federal laws.
- Assists in investigations as requested by the Supervising Security Officer or Director, maintains records, and other documentation pertinent to security activities.
- Remains mentally alert while responding to security incidents.
- Checks incoming Visitor/Staff after hours.
- Represents the Hospital in court as needed.
- Performs dispatcher duties or others as assigned.
