JOB SUMMARY
The staffing coordinator generates, manages and updates master schedules while adjusting as needed according to budgetary constraints, census fluctuations, call-ins, and pre-planned leaves of absence. Additional duties include
JOB QUALIFICATIONS1. Associate degree preferred.
2. Work requires the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment
3. 1 to 3 years of experience in a professional environment, preferably in a healthcare setting.
4. Advanced level skills with Microsoft Work and Excel, some skill with Microsoft Access.
5. Good communication/interpersonal skills.
6. Demonstrates organizational/clerical skills.
JOB DUTIES
1. Reviewing requests for paid time off (PTO), vacation, maternity leave, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and unpaid leaves of absence.
2. Fulfilling staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
3. Keeping meticulous attendance records and assisting with the progressive disciplinary process if staff members accrue excessive absences and/or tardies.
4. Communicating with unit managers and the director of nursing / chief nursing officer regarding floor orientation scheduling for newly hired employees in the nursing department.
5. Checking time clock punch records against master schedules and noting the appropriate changes.
6. Signing time correction forms for events such as missing meal periods or forgetting to clock in/out.
7. Approving contracts with temporary staffing agencies who send nurses / nursing assistants to the facility.
8. Utilizing computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule.
